Old Town Palermo and a Sicilian cooking class (June 2)

Today we're off to walk old town Palermo.  The town has a ton of character. It's a little rough around the edges (a bit dirty) but if you can look past that, it has a lot of charm.  Gorgeous churches, WWII bombing evidence on church cupolas, and a seemingly young(ish)/developing tourism market.  It's pretty cool.

Here are some pics from today's walk around old town.

Cappuccinos on the piazza

Street pesto (and bruchetta and beer)

This evening, a Sicilian cooking class. We got back to the hotel around 1 a.m., totally stuffed and rather effected by free-flowing wine. It'll be a slow day tomorrow...  ;)

Best bruschetta ever (tomatoes, 3-4 garlic, basil, salt/pepper and a ton - a TON of olive oil).  Chef Antonio, behind Amanda from Florida and a couple Canadian Navy guys.

Swordfish rolls (11 p.m., so tired)

Menu: Bruschetta, mussel soup, swordfish rolls, linguine with shrimp, pistachio ice cream

(It was all sort of a blur)
